Having a kind of predetermined workflow overtime you approach am mix is a great way to be more creative when you do mix. It might sound Counter-intuative but it actually helps. Because you have to spend less time thinking about what to do. You can listen and execute with a better touch.

I don’t mix that much nowadays, but when I do I tend to do EQ before panning. Apart from that I’ve got almost the same workflow.
