- Crush It With EQ -
This EQ Course is exactly what I needed to get back into mixing. Before, I never knew how important EQ'ing is, the funny part? I went to school for Audio and never surgically got into EQ like this EQ Course did. This EQ Course gave out tons and tons of information for free, I honestly think this course was a steal :-O! I saved all the emails, along with the PDF file that came with the end of the course, so I can always come back to in case I get stuck with creating space in a mix. I check my email everyday and feel like I have a personal Engineer mentoring me. Now I'm mixing clearer mixes, without all the plugins I thought I needed to be one of the greatest mix engineers.
Learn to clean up your low-end, reduce bleed in your drums and eliminate annoying resonant frequencies from your recordings.
Whether you need to get rid of muddiness in your low-mids, tame the harshness in your mix, or get rid of your boxy sounding drums, you'll get detailed tips for every single frequency problem.
Learn where to add presence to your vocals, brilliance to your acoustic guitars, thickness to your keyboards or weight to your bass. These tips are broken down by instrument and help you fix your frequency problems with simple solutions that you can use right away.
At the end of the course you'll get a handy tip sheet that you can reference with every single EQ tip you'll learn in the course. You can use this for easy reference any time you run into a new EQ problem.
Great stuff, definitely worth taking the time to read it. And very nice to be broken down daily so it's not too much to read. It had great tips on individual instrument eq tips. I focus on Hip Hop/Latin Hip Hop music mostly, no struggle there. But sometimes I get clients that request rock, metal, latin music genres, and others outside of my realm, hard to really do a great job on other genres, so I'd like tips on specific genres and how they vary.
It was a very informative course. Packed full of information and tips.
Awesome course, gave me a lot of insight on how to handle my mix better.
The course was very informative and helped with getting a good sound from a kick drum sample

Any parametric EQ has three functions.
Where you select which frequency you want to manipulate, from the frequency spectrum of 20 Hz - 20,000 Hz.
Where you decide whether you want to increase (boost), or attenuate (cut) the frequency you've selected.
Where you decide the width of the EQ curve and how much you want to affect the surrounding frequencies around the one you choose.
You’ll find these three things on every software EQ in some way.
Plug-ins that emulate hardware might have fixed frequencies and Qs, but the overall function is always the same.
Although EQ might look pretty intimidating it’s actually fairly simple to use.
There are really only three things you can do:
When you filter frequencies you eliminate them completely. High-pass filters are frequently used to eliminate unnecessary low-end frequencies from a mix and low-pass filters are common to tame the high-end hiss.
When you cut a frequency you reduce its power in the frequency spectrum. Sometimes you need to cut annoying ringing sounds and resonances in a specific track. Sometimes you need to cut certain frequencies to make room for other instruments in a mix.
When you boost frequencies you’re adding more of them to the mix. You boost to add something that’s missing, like presence in a vocal track, attack to a guitar or body to your bass.
I want you to have an easy reference tip sheet (like this one) every time you need some helpful tips on EQ, so inside my 71 Tips EQ Course I’ll break the EQ section down into filtering, boosting and cutting tips so that you can easily find the tips you’re looking for each time.
At the end you’ll also get a handy PDF for free with all the tips for easy reference.

I've worked in live sound doing huge concerts back home in my native Iceland (that's where the name is from), recorded bands in Madrid, Spain (where I went to audio engineering school) and now I produce, record and mix local bands in Tucson, Arizona (I get around a lot...).
Through these diverse experiences I've grown to learn one thing:
I've taught thousands of up and coming home studio producers such as yourself how to make an impact with their music through Audio Issues since 2011.
If I can help somebody improve the sound of their music and that helps them get extra fans and exposure I think I've done a great job.
I believe in sharing my knowledge with everyone and through Audio Issues I've been able to do that. I might not have won any Grammys but I enjoy being the person that inspires others to make great music while aspiring to learn as much as there is to know (and pay forward!).
That's what I'm all about. I've learned a lot from working in the industry since 2006 and I hope my knowledge can become your shortcut to taking your mixes to the next level.
Looking forward to helping you learn everything you need to know about EQ!
