Is this the Best Condenser Microphone You can Buy?

I think I found the holy grail of cheap condenser microphones. I’ve recommended it before but I just didn’t realize how many of you used it and adored it.

The Audio Technica AT2020 might just be the best condenser microphone for its price. Nothing seems to beat it in sound and design.

Reviews and Sound Samples gives it a great review, and Sound on Sound praises its cost to quality ratio, saying:

Despite its low cost, this mic actually delivers a very mature, believable sound both on vocals and on instruments.

I recommended it in my round-up of 4 Cheap Ass Microphones for the Frugal Engineer. The AT2020 gets a lot of attention from you there since everyone tends to love the microphone sample I provide. Listen to it in action on acoustic guitar:

Nothing beats an audio sample to show you what a mic can do.

I’ve used it. I love it. All my friends love it and you guys seem to cherish it as well.

My numbers don’t lie. I use affiliate links to earn a little revenue from all the things I talk about on the site. Whenever you click on a link and you end up buying something I recommended I get a little percentage without any additional cost prompting me to question if it might be the best condenser microphone money can buy?

Do you own one? What have you used it on? Tell us your story about it
