When and Why to Use Stock EQ Plug-ins
Why and when would you use stock EQ?
If a standard stock EQ is good enough, why would you use something like Fabfilter Pro-Q3?
That’s what I was asked recently so I made a video to discuss some of the differences, as well as when I use which.
Watch the video for a discussion on:
- Using mid/side EQ for wider mixes and tighter low-end
- When the stock EQ is great
- The importance of knowing how all of your stock plug-ins work
- The beauty of having a mix template
I hope you have a good weekend.

If you haven’t already, please remember to register for the free Mix Finisher VIP Workshop we’re doing next week to celebrate my birthday.
You won’t want to miss this free workshop where I walk you through a mix showing you how I use EQ, compression, and saturation to get a rough mix, and reverb, delay, and parallel processing to add depth, space, and power.
