Tell us your name, age and where you live.
Andrew Jacquin, 26, Brisbane Queensland Australia
How did you get interested in audio engineering and music production?
I’ve always been interested in music since I was a child. Growing up I played a number of instruments including Trumpet, Drums, Guitar, and Piano and didn’t really take to them.
I thought to an Engineering role.
Where are you studying audio now and what will you diploma/degree be in?
I am currently studying Audio Production through SAE Qantm Brisbane.
What’s the most challenging thing about music production and engineering?
As it is still early stages of my training, I have found that Gain Staging and EQ have been the hardest aspect of engineering for me. But as time progresses and I gain further experience within the field, these skills will eventually become second nature.
What’s the most entertaining aspect of working with audio and music?
I really like the fact that there is an opportunity to meet very interesting and like minded people who are involved in the industry. Also the potential to travel the world and experience many different cultures and styles of music.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to hunt for an internship within the industry. I still haven’t made up my mind whether it will be in music production or music and audio for film and television. I have not learnt about the aspects of post-production just yet but I am very excited to continue learning and mastering all aspects of Audio Engineering
Anything else you would like to add?
I seem to have found my calling within this industry and have worked very hard to get to where I am today. I am dedicated 100% to my studies and my future career within the industry. Most of all, I am happy that i made the choice to return to studies and pursue a career within an industry that I have had a lifelong passion for.
